Aquatics

Swimming is a fun and healthy activity for all ages. Lakes Leisure drives the aquatic side of recreation and leisure services to the community at their two indoor sites Alpine Aqualand and Wanaka Community Pool, and one outdoor site, Arrowtown Memorial Pool (summer only). Services offered by Lakes Leisure Aquatics include learn to swim, youth discovery and the general supervision of great family fun. Our goal is to provide a safe and enjoyable aquatics environment and opportunities for the public to participate in a variety of activities.

Alpine Aqualand

Alpine Aqualand at the Queenstown Events Centre has something for all ages. Enjoy our fantastic facilities while entertaining the family, relaxing or keeping fit. Features include:

Features

25m Lap Pool: 8 lanes wide and heated to 27°C, this pool is available to both serious and not so serious swimmers. Although lanes are hired by local clubs and organisations, the lap pool is guaranteed to have a minimum of 4 lanes open to public swimming at all times. Depth from 1.2m to 2m.
Learners Pool: This purpose built pool is maintained at a comfortable 32°C. With a depth of 90cm at the shallow end and 1.2m at the deep end this pool has been designed specifically for teaching the life skill of swimming.
Fun-filled Leisure Pool: Heated to a beautiful 32°C, this pool is intended for gentle exercise and family play. The leisure includes a 37m Lazy River and is full of plenty of toys and floating equipment to play with.
Hydroslides: Alpine Aqualand features two hydroslides, one fast and one slow. Under 5’s must be accompanied by an adult and a height restriction of 1.4m applies to the fast slide. Children who are under this height may still ride the slow slide at a discounted rate of $2.00.

Adult Hot Pool: A great way to relax after a busy day, a few laps in the lap pool or a day on the ski slopes, the hot pool is heated to a balmy 39°C. Please note that use of the hot pool is restricted to patrons 16 years and over.
Toddler Pool: A weir from the leisure pool flows into a specially designed area for toddlers. This space allows children to play and experience the water in a fun and safe environment.

Supervision Policy

Children under 5 years of age must be within arms reach of a responsible caregiver, 16 years of age or over at all times.
Children under 8 years of age must be actively supervised at all times by a responsible caregiver, 16 years of age or over at all times.
Actively supervised means watching the child or children in your care at all times and being able to provide immediate assistance if required.
