Christmas PresentsThere’s just two more sleeps till Christmas! Kids, there’s just two more days to get your photo taken for free with Santa at Santa’s Grotto at the Remarkables Park Town Centre. While you’re there you can vote for your favourite tree - Paddles the Polar bear has decorated one and he reckons it’s the best one - but it’s up to you of course!

Over the holidays the Lake Hayes Christmas Triathlon/Duathlon is being run by Active QT on Tuesday 27 December with options available for all fitness levels. Then on New Year’s Eve we’ve got the HRV Twenty/20 Cricket – Otago Volts vs Wellington Firebirds coming to the Queenstown Events Centre from 2pm. The game boasts a great line up of both BlackCaps and domestic players on each team!

The Lake Hayes triathlon is New Zealand’s oldest surviving triathlon, first held in 1983. This event is situated in and around the beautiful and iconic Lake Hayes near Queenstown. Come work off that extra pudding in one of the many events – a traditional triathlon, a kayak triathlon, a duathlon with a road ride, a duathlon with a MTB ride around Lake Hayes – or a kids duathlon event! KITE WORKSHOP & DISPLAY
January 5-7, Queenstown Events Centre & Lake Wanaka Centre
Kite DisplayGet creative and design your own colourful kite under the guidance of a professional kite maker. Queenstown Events Centre or Lake Wanaka Centre - Thursday 5 & Friday 6 January: 10.00am, 12.30pm and 3.00pm. The workshops are 90-minutes and numbers are limited, bookings recommended. Christmas BallCHRISTMAS HOLIDAY HOURS
Queenstown Events Centre, Arrowtown Community Pool & Wanaka Community Pool will be closed on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. On Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve we will be closing at 5pm. All other public holidays are 8am-8pm otherwise. For details of our holiday opening hours, click here. The Alpine Health & Fitness Group Fitness Timetable has been adjusted for holidays – for our holiday group fitness timetables, click here. Playtime and downtown Zumba classes are on hold for the holidays until mid to late January.

REVIVE A WINNING FORMULA
Congratulations to the 48 people who recently completed the REVIVE 12-week challenge. Everyone put in a fantastic effort and it really paid off with most people losing between 8kg and 12kg, greatly increasing their fitness and improving their nutrition. But for some it provided the motivation for a complete, fundamental lifestyle change which is fantastic!

Revive WinnersAlex Musgrave was chosen as the overall winner of Revive. Alex lost 17.4kg and 14% body fat, reduced her dimensions by 55cm and gained muscle tone and strength. More importantly for her complete dedication to change including a physical, mental and social reinvention. She has been awarded a $1,500 prize package thanks to Sofitel Hotel, Hush Spa and The Shoe Clinic.

Orla Fitzgerald, Julie Bell and Malcolm Salter were all awarded Alpine Health & Fitness memberships for significant achievements. Special mention must go to Orla who has lost 33kg this year at Lakes Leisure - 20kg in the Big Bods programme and 12kg in the Revive programme. Holiday Programme GirlQUEENSTOWN EVENTS CENTRE HOLIDAY PROGRAMME
Lakes Leisure’s Summer Holiday Programme is back and better than ever from 4-27 January with sessions designed for 5-7 and 8-12 year olds. We offer a wide variety of activities sure to keep kids entertained such as Olympic Sports Day, Master Chef Comp, Eco-Extreme Day and Crazy Science Experiments - and much more! In a recent survey of programme parents, 100% said that their children enjoyed it, thought the programme was reasonably priced and would recommend it to others. If you’d like to take a dip in the sunshine this summer, Arrowtown Memorial Pool is 33m of outdoor aquatic goodness that’s available to everyone. It’s open from 11-1pm for lap swimming and 1pm-6pm for free time play. There’s also a grass area and covered BBQ that’s available to all pool users.
