School Holiday Boredom Busters at Lakes Leisure

Lakes Leisure has got school aged kids’ entertainment fully covered these school holidays with a string of holiday boredom busters designed to keep participants active and entertained.

The programme starts on 2 July and runs through to 16 July. A wide range of activities are on offer, starting with an epic end-of-term pool party then taking in super-sports sessions, a tube polo tournament, swim lessons and rock climbing.

The More FM ‘Wild about Water’ Pool Party on Friday 2 July is part of the American Express Queenstown Winter Festival and kicks off at 3.30pm. The price of standard pool entry includes lots of fun and games with More FM DJ Henry Youngman spinning the latest tunes poolside while races, competitions and free hydro-slide rides get underway in the water.

From Monday 5 July to Friday 9 July a full timetable of Super Sports Sessions launches at Queenstown Events Centre for children aged from 4 to 12 years. Among the indoor and outdoor sports sessions are football, frisbee, netball, rugby, cricket, mini-ball, hockey and basketball with individual sessions costing just $5. The sessions run from 9:00am to 3.15pm.

On Tuesday 6 July and Tuesday 13 July kids are guaranteed to get wiggling and giggling with some easy Latin moves during these two FREE ZumbAtomic sessions held at the Events Centre’s indoor stadium at 3:30pm.

The all-new Tube Polo Tournament is organised for Wednesday 7 July at 2:00pm. Open to teams from Year 11, 12 & 13, these teenagers just need to bring six mates and head down to Alpine Aqualand for massive fun where prizes and a sparkling ‘begging to be won’ Tube Polo Trophy are up for grabs. Registration costs $45 for a team of six.

Holiday Rock Climbing Sessions are also on offer for those wanting to scale the heights. The thrill seeking experience will run at the Rockatipu Climbing wall, Queenstown Events Centre on Thursday 8 July, Monday 12 July, Wednesday 14 July and Thursday 15 July from 5:00pm to 7:00pm and cost just $10 per session.

Then there are School Holiday Swim Lessons which take place at Wanaka Community Pool from Monday 5 July to Friday 9 July and at Alpine Aqualand from Monday 12 July to Friday 16 July, with free swim assessments available at both venues for those who are not sure of their child’s level.
