Zumba-mania is taking over at Alpine Health & Fitness throughout July as the latest fitness craze to sweep the planet comes to Queenstown for Zumba-month.
To celebrate, there are heaps of free Zumba activities on offer at Queenstown Events Centre for every-booty in the community to come and shake their thing at.
Zumba is a revolutionary new exercise class that fuses tantalizing dance moves with insatiable Latin music to create a workout that is fun and easy for people of all ages, shapes and sizes. Exercise routines have interval sessions of dancing and resistance training which are combined to tone and sculpt the body while also burning fat.
To help you get into the groove Alpine Health & Fitness are holding two FREE Zumba sessions in the Event Centre’s indoor stadium on Tuesday 6 and Tuesday 13 July at 7:00pm, or to try something completely different and jump in the pool at Alpine Aqualand for the all new AquaZumba kicking off on Friday 16 July at 5.30pm. Additional classes will be held on Tuesday 20, Friday 23 and Tuesday 27 July at 5.30pm. All classes are FREE for Zumba month and permanent timetables will be confirmed at a later date.
For the kids, two FREE ZumbAtomic sessions that are guaranteed to get them wiggling and giggling with some easy Latin moves are also being held in the indoor stadium on Tuesday 6 and Tuesday 13 July at 3:30pm.
Lakes Leisure Health & Fitness Manager Richie Heap said the Zumba programme has become one of the single most influential movements in the fitness industry and is proving to be very popular in the Queenstown region.
“Zumba has spread like wildfire and has helped change the image of exercise rather like yoga and pilates once did, because it’s an exciting and fresh way of exercising.”
“The sessions use fast and slow dance movements with basic strength training for an easy but effective work out that is great for people of all fitness levels to do.”
“Most of all Zumba is fun, and people can forget the hard grind of working out and just enjoy dancing to some great Latin music.”
Zumba is currently being taught at over 60,000 locations in 105 countries, has sold millions of DVDs, and has changed the lives of fitness fanatics worldwide with an astonishing 7.5 million people taking part in Zumba classes every week.
