Lakes Leisure seeks tenders for cafe operator at Queenstown Events Centre

Lakes Leisure is looking forward to the establishment of a new café at the Queenstown Events Centre with the tender process for a café service now underway.

The request for tender follows feedback from the community that a café would be a welcomed addition to the facility and experienced businesses or individuals are encouraged to submit their proposals to operate this new venture.

Lakes Leisure chief executive officer Fiona McKissock said they are looking for a café to supply a healthy and nutritious menu in keeping with Lakes Leisure’s own active community objectives.

“We are about improving community health through increasing their activity levels so we want to make sure healthy eating choices are on offer.

“We’re interested in hearing from operators who will provide a good range of nutritious food and beverage options such as fruit juices, smoothies, salads, soups, sandwiches, wraps and of course coffee.”

The café will be located in the main foyer area of the Events Centre with options for indoor and outdoor seating.

The number of overall visitors to the Events Centre is continually increasing with over 320,000 people coming to the centre for the year to 30 June 2010.

“Since the opening of Alpine Health & Fitness in October 2009 we have seen a significant increase in the number of regular visitors to the centre. The range of new programmes on the go always ensure high use of the facility.

“We’re continually looking for new ways to attract people to the Events Centre on a regular basis which should bode well for café operators” Ms McKissock said.

Tenders close 4:00pm Tuesday 27 July.
