Summer Sports Season Bookings Now Open

Summer sports bookings for the 2010-11 season are now open and Lakes Leisure is calling on all local sports clubs to get their booking requests in to ensure they do not miss out on their preferred training and match days at sports facilities under Lakes Leisure’s management.

As a result of the Queenstown Lakes District Council’s new pricing policy for community sports and recreational facilities, sports clubs now have two payment options available for their bookings – to pay in one lump sum for the entire defined summer season or pay by the hour for field or court use.

Facilities and operations manager Cam Sheppard said that under the new seasonal field or court charge option most sports clubs would see a reduction in their field and court charges.

“Clubs now have the option to substantially reduce their sports field and court hire costs by entering into a seasonal agreement with Lakes Leisure at a flat rate, regardless of the actual number of hours they use.

“Where a number of clubs require high levels of use for the same facility, Lakes Leisure will manage the logistical scheduling to ensure fair access for all clubs concerned.

“Some compromises may need to be made but we will try our hardest to accommodate all club’s requests” Mr Sheppard said.

The 2010-2011 summer season dates are defined to fall between 26 October 2010 and 31 March 2011.

Local sports facilities managed by Lakes Leisure include Queenstown Events Centre (indoor & outdoor), Queenstown Recreation Reserve, Warren Park, Jack’s Point sports field, Lake Hayes Estate multi-sports pitch, Frankton Courts, Millbrook Corner, Jack Reid Park, Wanaka Recreation Reserve, Pembroke Park, Allenby Park and Lake Hawea sports field.

Booking requests should be returned to Lakes Leisure by Monday 4 October 2010 to ensure all club’s requirements are included during the scheduling process.
