Come and give indoor rock climbing a go at the Rockatipu Indoor Rock Climbing Wall! Enjoy our wide range of climbs with everything for complete beginners through to expert lead climbers. If you’ve never done it before we’d be happy to show you the ropes at no extra charge!

INSTRUCTOR / BELAY LICENCE SESSIONS

Our qualified climbing instructors can help you discover the excitement and thrill of climbing any weekday evening by teaching you the basics in a safe environment.

They’ll teach you to belay, which is how to keep your climbing partner safe while they ascend the wall, and help you develop your climbing skills and style as you progress through our graded climbing wall. Once you gain a Lakes Leisure belay licence you’ll be free to climb without instrustor supervision.

Your safety is paramount and all instructors hold a minimum qualification of New Zealand Outdoor Instructor Association Rock Level 1 or similar foreign equivalent.

Instructor Sessions:
Monday–Thursday 7-9pm in summer, extended hours in winter.

Unsupervised Sessions for Belay Licence Holders:
Monday-Friday 6am-9pm
Saturday-Sunday 8am-8pm

• Lakes Leisure Belay Licences can be otained during Instructor Sessions, as can Lead Climbing Licences – valid for 12 months
• Child - from 5 years to high school with appropriate ID
• Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult who holds a Lakes Leisure belay licence
• Equipment hire includes shoes and a harness
• Prices are subject to change

get Rocked – Kids Climbing COURSES:

Our Get Rocked Kids Climbing Courses, designed for 8-12 year olds, run for 8 weeks each term and cost $80 per term. There’s a limit of 8 kids per class, so we run five sessions per week:

• Tuesdays 4.00pm-5.30pm
• Tuesdays 5.30pm-7.00pm
• Wednesday 4.00pm-5.30pm
• Wednesday 5.30pm-7.00pm
• Thursday 4.30pm-6.00pm

ROCK CLIMBING BIRTHDAY PARTY:

Want to try a birthday party with a difference? Bring a group of 6-12 kids to come scale new heights and experience the thrill of a rock climbing birthday party! Minimum age: 8 years.

Climbing Costs: $8 per child including hire equipment, with the birthday child climbing free, plus $50 per party for two hours of belaying and instruction by our qualified instructor.

Room Hire: You can also book one of our function rooms to enjoy your own birthday party food. Prices start at $15 per hour.
